Recognizing The Benefits of Dental Implants

A few years ago, I realized that the teeth that I was missing were really holding me back. It seemed like no matter how many times I applied for jobs, I was constantly turned away. I knew that I had to do something to improve my look, so I started talking with my dentist. He explained how dental implants could restore my smile and improve my oral health, and I knew that he was right. After I had the surgery, I was able to enjoy a new sense of self confidence that propelled me into a better career. Check out this blog for more information.

3 Discreet Orthodontic Options

If you are considering braces but are unsure about whether or not you would like to have metal brackets displayed each time you speak or smile, there is no need to delay the correction of your dental misalignment. There are multiple discreet orthodontic devices available to straighten your teeth. Orthodontists often offer a variety of treatment options to adult patients that are difficult to discern on the teeth. Here are a few of them:

Invisalign Braces

Invisalign is an orthodontic system designed to straighten your teeth efficiently without the use of metal brackets. The system uses clear aligning trays that are made of plastic. Every couple of weeks the orthodontic patient exchanges his or her current set of aligning trays for the next set of aligners in his or her alignment treatment progression.

The trays are removable. Thus, Invisalign is often preferred because of the convenience it offers when the patient eats or brushes his or her teeth. Still, Invisalign is generally only prescribed for teen or adult patients since the palate of the patient should be fully matured.

Invisalign's cost is quite similar to that of traditional braces. Thus, the wearer can receive the discreet treatment for about the same price as he or she would pay for metal braces. Conventional braces usually cost between $3,000 and $7,000. Invisalign's price is generally between $4,000 and $7,400.

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are also discreet alignment options. The brackets of the braces are applied to the back of the teeth, next to the tongue. This prevents the braces from being easily noticed when the patient speaks or smiles.

Since the braces do not lie directly beneath the lips, people who choose lingual braces as their orthodontic treatment can freely move their lips without fear of snagging them on metal brackets. However, patients will have to be careful about touching the braces too much with their tongues early on, as lingual braces can still snag tongues.

Lingual braces are more expensive than traditional braces. This alignment option is priced between $8,000 and $10,000.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces have brackets that are made of ceramic instead of the traditional metal of conventional braces. The ceramic material is tooth-colored. Thus, ceramic braces are hardly noticeable when worn.

Ceramic braces usually cost between $4,000 and $8,000.

Since the cost of ceramic braces is still slightly higher than that of traditional braces, some orthodontists suggest that the patient only has ceramic brackets applied to the teeth that are easily visible in the mouth.

If you are interested in having your teeth aligned in a discreet manner, schedule a consultation with a company like Family Dentistry Of Woodstock.
