2 Mouthwashes To Help Prevent Chronic Periodontitis Disease

Chronic periodontitis disease is a severe form of periodontal disease. This disease is caused by excessive plaque buildup around your gum line, teeth, and other areas of your mouth. The later stages of the disease often consist of loose teeth, bad breath, and bleeding gums. Chronic periodontitis is difficult to remove with just traditional dental care methods. Instead, your dentist will have to perform a root canal surgery in order to remove all of the dental plaque from the contaminated dental pulp. Therefore, it is important to catch the disease when it is still a mild form of gingivitis. During this stage, the disease can easily be reversed. Therefore, there are a few mouthwashes that you can use in order to help prevent chronic periodontitis.

Mullein Mouthwash

Mullein is a common garden herb. The leaves and flowers of the herb are taken to create teas in order to treat internal sickness and bacterial infection. The herb is also used to treat arthritis pain because of its analgesic properties. Take a packet of dried mullein and place two spoonfuls of the herb in a small bowl of hot water. Place the mixture to the side and allow the herb to soak for hours. This will allow the herb to release its antibacterial and analgesic properties into the water. Use the mouthwash immediately after eating and after brushing your teeth. Guide the rinse in between the grooves and gaps in between your teeth. This is where food is most likely to get stuck and turn into plaque. Creating a mullein mouthwash will help to keep your mouth clean between meals and prevent a bacterial infection.

Anise Mouthwash

The sweet aroma expelled from anise makes it a common herb in cooking. However, one of the herb's best qualities can be found in its antibacterial properties. These properties make it a staple for treating coughs and flu. A simple anise mouthwash will help to rid your mouth of bad bacteria. Start by placing several spoonfuls of the dried herb into a cup of hot water. Cover the cup and let it sit for an hour. Use a strainer to drain the leftover bits of the herb from the mixture. Use the anise mouthwash before bed and when you wake up in the morning.

Dealing with chronic periodontitis disease can not only jeopardize the health of your teeth but your body. Therefore, use these mouthwashes to help keep the disease at bay. A dentist like Paul Dona DDS can give you more tips.
